Hepburnshire mtb guide update | Local food update

Guide Revision

The opening of the Goldfields Track initiated a revision of this guide which is used by region Visitor Centres. You can read it online at the MapSport website.

Daylesford Bike Servicing

Of particular interest is the availability of basic bike servicing from two Daylesford businesses. One of these, St.Mel, also retails designer cycle threads for women and men. The self descriptive Tipperary Bike Hire, is for once, just a short short way to go.

Update on Food

The renowned Old Glenlyon General Store has reopened for business after extensive renovation. Although it does carry basic groceries it is better known for its local produce and cafe. Once again I can ride through the forest on the weekend, top up at Glenlyon Spring, and power up the rise to the store for great coffee and food. Not known at this stage whether musos will again be in attendance on weekends.

On the Daylesford – Castlemaine road or riding from/to Guildford? Then you really should try the Guildford General Store baked-on-the-premises pies. The best pies we can recall and my partner is a bit of an aficionado. Fillings and crust are both superb. And their Coffee Basics coffee is consistently good too.

I hear the heritage listed Guildford Family Hotel over the road has good meals and I can vouch for it being  welcoming after a ride on a hot summer's day.
